
Max Gross
Max Gross is a Researcher in the Human Services Division at Mathematica. An economist specializing in child welfare and education policy, Max has contributed to various child welfare research projects. He currently serves as administrative data lead for an evaluation of a program designed to decrease the risk of homelessness for youth and young adults with child welfare histories. He was the lead researcher for an impact study of the Nurturing Parenting Program, a widely used parent education program which seeks to prevent child maltreatment and foster care placement. He provided evaluation technical assistance to the City of Philadelphia Department of Human Services to supports its implementation of the Family First Prevention Services Act. He also has played key roles on education and family support projects, including the Evaluation of Preschool Special Education Practices, the Regional Education Laboratory Mid-Atlantic, and the Strengthening Relationship Education and Marriage Services Evaluation.
Max earned a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Michigan where he was an Institute of Education Sciences predoctoral fellow. Before graduate school, he earned a B.A. in economics and a B.S. in mathematics from the University of Maryland. He is also a research affiliate at the Youth Policy Lab and the Education Policy Initiative at the University of Michigan.
